COACHING TIP
Have you signed up for the Netball New Zealand coaching toolkit? It's a great resource.
Here is the second installment of coaching tips to hopefully help you on your way to making more effective, successful and most importantly fun sessions for both you and your players!
Coaching Philosophy!
Your coaching philosophy should be a reflection of your own personal beliefs and values. This should be communicated to your players in a positive way and effectively in order to assist them in their enjoyment of their sporting involvement, their development as a player and team mate and also so their goals are achieved, both individually and as a team.
It is important your philosophy is something you have spent time defining, believing and living from the start of the season, so start thinking about this now…in time for our September League!
Questions to ask when developing your coaching philosophy;
•
What do I value the most about my involvement in sport?
•
Why am I involved in sport?
•
What do my players value most about sport?
•
Why are my players involved in sport?
•
As a coach, how do I intend to make sure both mine and my players values are incorporated in what we do?
•
How can my philosophy help me ensure my players meet their goals?
•
Coaches who have inspired me have had the following qualities;
•
What kind of a coach do I wish to be? What would I want my players to answer to the above question about me?
•
How can I incorporate these attributes into my coaching?
