The End of Season Junior Spring Tournament was held at Southland Leisure Centre on Saturday June 28th, to conclude the spring netball season.
Five Junior A teams and four Junior B teams faced off during a total of 16 games between the two divisions, demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship and netball skill acquired throughout the preceding season. After each team had played against all others in their division, the coaches participated in a short exhibition game to show their team what they can expect to achieve after several years of training.
As for the results of the tournament, we chose to focus on positive aspects of each team’s performance to emphasize the teamwork and learning atmosphere that is central to the junior spring league, which caters to several brand new players. The Mystics and the Firebirds took the top spots in the Junior A division while the Maverick-Jets and Dragons took the lead in the Junior B division.
A huge thank you goes out to all the junior league coaches for their continued dedication, planning, and mentorship to the future of Netball Alberta over the past eight weeks of Junior Spring league in addition to their commitment to the tournament. A special thank you to Emma Wilton for her unwavering support of our junior coaches and to all the parents who volunteered their time to score keep all season. Netball league would not be possible without your help. Most importantly, we are thankful to have such a promising bunch of new and returning Junior A and B players to represent Alberta in the coming years. We look forward to watching your talent grow and to another successful Spring season and tournament next year.
