Ellie Maddock Memorial Award Winner 2018

March 25th, 2018

Congratulations Abigail Francis - 2018 recipient of the Ellie Maddock Memorial Award.

Abigail is a youth player whose ability and desire to play the game of Netball was identified early on and she was invited to trial for the Youth Development Squad, earning a place on the Grizzlies squad regularly playing in the Senior A division.

Whether training, playing in league or at a Rep tournament she is always fully committed on court, listens attentively to what is required and never fails to deliver. She has represented Alberta at Provincial level both as a U16 player and in 2017 as part of the U23 squad that attended the Canada National Championship in Toronto.

At only 15 years of age she has showed enough promise to be invited to trial for the Canada U21 Development Squad in British Columbia next weekend.

On court she is tenacious, resilient and versatile, having started out in the Junior division as a GS/GA, who transitioned to play very strong midcourt game, she did not hesitate at the thought that she may be required to play GA once again at our most recent Western Championship tournament.

It has been a pleasure to see this person grow both in confidence on and off the court and long may it continue.

We feel that Abigail Francis is more than deserving of the Ellie Maddock Memorial Award with her resilience, determination, and promising netball future!
