PRESIDENT
ANA is looking for a President to join it's Executive Board, to support our mission. Our mission is to be leaders committed to promoting, facilitating and supporting programs that foster the advancement of our netball community. If you are someone with a passion for sport and leadership, and would like to be a part of a non-profit, we would love for you to join our team (knowledge of the game of Netball is not required).
Overview
ANA is looking for a President to join it's Executive Board, to support our mission. Our mission is to be leaders committed to promoting, facilitating and supporting programs that foster the advancement of our netball community. If you are someone with a passion for sport and leadership, and would like to be a part of a non-profit, we would love for you to join our team (knowledge of the game of Netball is not required).
Overview
- Oversees the running of all aspects of ANA
- Ensures that the responsibilities of each portfolio are being met and arranges for assistance as required
- Oversees and leads good Governance of the Organization
- Reviews Executive 3 -5 Year Strategic Plan, Action Plan, Budget
- Ex-officio member of other sub-committees as necessary
- Performs other duties as relevant and required
- Oversees and ensure compliance with relevant governance responsibilities (Societies Act and Association Bylaws).
- Act as a signing authority on cheques
- Works with Treasurer and Staff to secure sustainable funding, which may include grants
- Manages selection of new Employees
- Approves expenses, time sheets, and professional development budget allocations
- Attends Netball Canada meetings on behalf of ANA and acts as a Liaison with Netball Canada
- Chairs the ANA AGM and delivers Annual report
- Attends and chairs all ANA Executive meetings
- Calls special meetings of the Executive or membership as required
- Must be a Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizen
- Committed to volunteering up to 10 hours per month
- Minimum two-year term
- Board of Directors and Business Leadership experience an asset
VICE PRESIDENT

- Assists the President in all areas
- Attend Executive meetings
- Stands in for President when they are unable to attend to ANA business
- Contributes to all Strategic Planning
- Must be a Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizen
- Committed to volunteering up to 10 hours per month
- Minimum one-year term
- Board of Directors experience and working with a non-profit an asset
SECRETARY
Overview
- Takes care of organizing and chronicling Executive meetings
- Attends executive meetings
- Types up an agenda and distributes it with the minutes of the previous meeting to the executive in a timely manner before the Executive meeting, the AGM, and any other special meetings called
- Records the minutes for executive meetings and the AGM (or organizes a suitable replacement) and uploads to Google Docs. Maintains Master Copy
- Advises the President if the motion is unclear or needs to be voted on before moving to the next topic
- Ensures corrections to the minutes are recorded and that the executive is advised of the correction/s at the following meeting
- Records tabled motions and brings them to the President’s attention on the appropriate date
- Maintains a master binder with minutes from all executive meetings and executive list to be passed on to the President for filling in ANA master files at the conclusion of the fiscal year
- Ensures that AGM folder containing: previous year’s minutes, Executive reports, Financial Statement, attendance record is available at the AGM
- Deals with all correspondence relating to the position
- Must be a Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizen

TREASURER

- Oversees all aspects of ANA finances
- Attends monthly Executive meeting, and provides a monthly report on the financial state of the organization
- Provides financial recommendations to the Executive
- Acts as a signing authority on cheques
- Maintain online accounting software (Quickbooks)
- Reconciles bank statement on a monthly basis
- Prepare all year end financials for annual audit and AGM
- Assists in preparing the annual budget
- Prepares Financial report for submission to AGLC
- Processes payroll for employees
- Submits tax forms to Revenue Canada
- Submits payroll taxes to Revenue Canada related to NA employees

STRATEGIC PLANNING DIRECTOR

Overview
- Directs and oversees the organization's strategic and long-range goal planning function
- Drives strategic initiatives, and supports the development of long-term development plans and monitors the progress of action plan objectives
- Responsible for the management and development of the organizations KPI infrastructure in order to facilitate analysis and reporting of performance against plans and budgets as well as strategic objectives.
- Development of strategic threat identification and evaluation processes as well as overseeing their adoption across the organization. Develops different possible scenarios for the mitigation of possible risks and provides recommendations for the management of these scenarios
- Plays the role of a strategy coach within the organization, providing much needed support in the formulation of individual department/portfolio strategies and ensures compliance with these strategies.
- Collaborates with operations and other executive areas on impact of strategic decisions and resolving escalated issues
- Gives input into developing the budget
- Attends ANA executive meetings providing a verbal and written report on the activity of this portfolio for the AGM
- Attends, calls and chair strategic planning meetings and annual action plan meetings

MARKETING DIRECTOR

- Oversees all aspects of ANA Marketing
- Attends executive meetings providing a verbal and written report on the activity of this portfolio for the AGM
- Assists with seeking out sponsors and opportunities to market Netball Alberta in the press, TV & radio and all media outlets
- Communicates regularly with the Netball Alberta webmaster to update the Schedule of Events, list of sponsors and other relevant information available online
- Approaches radio stations to advertise the Netball league and special events
- Keeps a record of all contacts, dates, letters and replies. Keeps samples of advertising
- Creates and distributes ANA newsletter through registration software
- Must be a Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizen
- Committed to volunteering up to 10 hours per month

TECHNICAL DIRECTOR
Overview:
Responsible for the governance relating to the Rules of Netball as determined by World Netball and affiliates. The Technical Director will liaise with Satellite clubs overseeing all aspects of the rules of netball and ensuring that Satellite Clubs are current in their knowledge and implementation of the rules. The ideal candidate must have an in depth understanding of the sport of Netball.

Duties
- Maintain and disseminate current records of rule changes as determined by World Netball and affiliates
- Attend, provide a report, or respond to matters arising from Netball Canada quarterly Technical Meetings
- Attend and report at the Netball Canada AGM
- Reporting and updating as applicable any rule changes received from World Netball and affiliates
- Attend monthly or bi-monthly Executive meetings as necessary
- Maintain a database of qualified umpires and assessments throughout the Province of Alberta
- Ensure Satellite clubs have access to rules
- Facilitate development clinics and/or workshops as necessary
- Provide support to all coaching staff/volunteers in relation to rule changes and application of rules
- Maintain an accurate database record of all qualified umpires throughout the Province of Alberta
- Develop a succession plan for umpires
- May be required to attend, provide a report, or respond to matters arising from Netball Canada’s National Technical Meeting
- Provide guidance and direction to all volunteers when ANA host Provincial Tournaments
- Research and apply for funding grants to facilitate the development of Coaches and Umpires
- Must be a Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizen
- Minimum Level I Coach, or Level I Umpire, CANA or International Award
- Able to attend a minimum of 8 meetings per calendar year
- Vulnerable Sector check (within the last 6 months)

LEAGUE DIRECTOR

- Two Positions: Calgary and Edmonton
- Responsible for overseeing all league or tournament related tasks for Netball in either Calgary or Edmonton and the ANA Executive
- Attends, calls and chairs NA and League Committee Meetings as necessary
- Reports to ANA on any issues arising from League or Tournaments and any relevant updates
- Reporting activity of the portfolio for AGM reporting
- League coordinating including team evaluations, creating league teams, schedules for teams, umpires and scorekeepers, ensure care of league bag and necessary equipment, and consultation changes to rules as necessary
- Tournament coordinating including team invites, schedules for teams, umpires and scorekeepers
- League administration including gym bookings, budgeting for both league and tournaments, and player registration
- Planning the end of season banquet
- Must be a Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizen
- Committed to volunteering up to 10 hours per month
- Minimum one-year term
