COACH NETBALL IN ALBERTA

Coaching is an integral part of any sport and netball needs more coaches! We cannot grow if we do not have people who step forward to share their knowledge, time and energy.
There are opportunities to coach various ages and skill levels. Netball Alberta will support you to find your place and develop your knowledge and skills.

GET QUALIFIED:

To get qualified, a coach will take a CANA course for each levels and several courses through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). There are three levels to the NCCP certification and they are offered on weekends around Calgary and Edmonton at major educational institutes.

COACHES CODE OF CONDUCT:

Coaches must respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person and treat everyone equally within the context of their sport.
Coaches must place the well-being and safety of the player above the development of performance. They should follow all guidelines laid down by the sports governing body.
Coaches must develop and appropriate working relationship with players, based on mutual trust and respect.
Coaches must encourage and guide players to accept responsibility for their own behaviour and performance.
Coaches should aim to achieve up to date and nationally recognized coaching qualifications.
Coaches must ensure the activities they direct or advocate are appropriate for the age, maturity, experience and ability of the individuals.
Coaches should, at the outset, clarify with players, (and where appropriate with their parents), exactly what is expected of them and what players are entitled to expect from their coach.
Coaches should always promote the positive aspects of their sport, (eg. fair play), and never condone rule violations, bad language or the use of any form of retaliation
Coaches must consistently display high standards of behaviour and appearance. They should never approach the umpires or make disparaging remarks on the quality of umpiring.
Coaches will be liable to disciplinary action if they have committed any breach of this Code of Conduct or have failed to comply with any guidelines issued by ANA.
