What is the AGM?

As a registered society under the Government of Alberta Societies Act, ANA is required to host an Annual General Meeting (AGM) once per year, where the membership has the opportunity to review updates from the executive board, review finances, elect the new board, and vote on any matters brought forward. 

The Next AGM

The Alberta Netball Association (ANA) 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday November 16th, 2024 at Southland Leisure Centre​ during the Calgary League Tournament. A hybrid option will be available – please contact [email protected] for the link or more information.

Voting Eligibility

Those eligible to vote are members registered before November 1st, 2024 who were 16 years of age and over at the time of their 2024-2025 Alberta Netball Association Membership application.

Financial documents can only be moved and seconded by those 18 years of age and over at the time of their 2024-2025 Alberta Netball Association Membership application.

Executive & Financial Reports

The Executive Reports and Financial Reports have been prepared by the current ANA Executive Board and will be brought forward for approval of the membership with the annual AGM. Please take the time to review them in advance.

Special Resolutions

On occasion, the Executive will bring forward a special resolution to be voted on by the membership, as per our bylaws. This year, the Executive has finished a several year long review in updating our bylaws to reflect our current organization structure and best practice. The new bylaws are attached below for your reference, and their adoption will be voted on at the 2024-2025 AGM.

Executive Board Positions

All executive board positions are available for nomination every year. If you would like to nominate yourself for any of the positions below, please fill out the link below with the role you intend to nominate for and your nomination bio by the end of day on the Wednesday prior to the AGM. We will confirm eligibility of all nominees before posting the nominations.

All current executive roles will "retire" at the AGM, though those individuals are welcome to nominate for their roles again. If you are interested in a role, we encourage you to reach out to the retiring board member to learn more about the scope and responsibilities of the portfolio. 

All nominee bios will be added to this website on Thursday November 21st, 2024. Nominations will be accepted up to the voting period at the AGM. Nominees may name themselves at the AGM during any of the three calls to the floor for nominees.

    • ​​I’m Kelly McIntyre, an experienced Data Analyst and Payroll Administrator with a sharp eye for detail and a passion for numbers. I’m excited to bring my skills to the role of Treasurer for Netball Alberta, where I’ve recently rekindled my love for the sport. My focus is on ensuring accuracy and transparency in financial processes, from recording to reconciliation. I’m eager to combine my financial expertise with my enthusiasm for netball, and contribute to the ongoing growth and success of our community.​
Elite Program Representative

    • ​Hi, my name is Jess, and I am pleased to be nominating for the inaugural Elite Program Representative position. As a native Calgarian, I grew up through what are now our Junior and YDS programs, benefitting from ANA's on-going commitment to elite development. This has culminated in my playing for Team Alberta 10+ times and U21 Team Canada. Now, I give back as the Head Coach of our YDS program, focusing on the development and love of the game in our young players. ​As a longstanding ANA member, I am incredibly proud of the growth we have undertaken. As our Open and YDS representative programs continue to evolve under new leadership, I look forward to many more players getting the chance to participate under the elite umbrella. The hard work and dedication of our Alberta club teams has not gone unnoticed, and I am thrilled about the opportunity to represent the interests of our elite club players at the executive level. 
Southern Alberta Member Representative

  • Charlotte Monaghan
    • ​​Hi, my name is Charlotte and I have been with ANA for almost as long as I’ve been in the country (15+ years). I’ve had many amazing opportunities with ANA to travel the world, and represent the province and country in different competitions. As well as playing, I have dabbled in coaching, umpiring, being the Senior A coordinator and Calgary League Director, and now representing the members of Southern Alberta. My goal is to ensure everyone can play netball, have fun, and feel respected in the community. Seeing our players, umpires, and coaches grow, as well as making new lifelong friends, is the biggest accomplishment I can hope for in this role. 
Junior Program Director

    • With over seven years of experience with Netball Alberta, and a lifetime in netball coaching, youth development, and sports management, I bring a wealth of expertise and a deep passion for advancing the sport. My journey with Netball Alberta has provided me with a unique perspective on the organization’s junior programs, and I am excited about the opportunity to drive their continued growth and success.
    • During my tenure, I have served in various capacities, including Junior Coach, School Clinician, and Development Officer. These roles have given me a comprehensive understanding of how junior programs interconnect and operate, as well as insight into the opportunities for further development. In addition, my experience as Team Manager for the YDS representative teams has equipped me with a clear understanding of the pathways for young competitive players, ensuring they receive the support needed to thrive at every level.
    • Youth netball development is a collaborative effort, and I am committed to fostering a strong team environment among Alberta’s youth coaches and school clinicians. This position requires not only coaching expertise but also operational insight. I bring proven skills in fundraising, grant writing, program budgeting, and policy development, as well as a strong track record of working effectively with parents, coaching teams, and club administrators to deliver well-organized and impactful programs.
    • I am also dedicated to continuous professional growth and actively seek opportunities to enhance my knowledge in coaching strategies, youth development, and sports administration. This commitment ensures that I remain informed and equipped to implement innovative practices that benefit young athletes.
    • I am particularly passionate about the transformative power of sport in building confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills. As Junior Director, I would focus on implementing structured development pathways that support players at every stage of their journey—from school physical education classes to grassroots participation and competitive play. My vision includes fostering an inclusive environment where players not only develop their netball skills but also gain important life skills such as discipline, resilience, and sportsmanship.
    • This role extends beyond coaching; it requires leadership, organization, and mentorship to elevate junior programming to new heights. I am confident that my experience and vision will help lead Netball Alberta’s junior programs into an exciting new era, perfectly aligned with the celebration of ANA's 50th Anniversary.
  • Igal Novogrebelsky
    • ​As the previous Youth Development Director, I dedicated myself to growing and strengthening youth netball in Alberta. Over the past year, I’m proud to have led an incredible 100% increase in player participation, creating a welcoming environment where young athletes can thrive and stay engaged for a long time. 
      Through school clinics, I introduced many children to netball and achieved great success in encouraging them to join ongoing programs. Most have continued playing for over a season, showing amazing progress and enthusiasm for the sport.
      With a background in transforming a seasonal tennis camp into a year-round program serving hundreds of kids, I bring a wealth of experience in building inclusive and successful sports communities. I’m deeply passionate about youth development and fully committed to ensuring junior netball in Alberta continues to grow, nurturing the next generation of players.

    • ​​Hi, I'm Lauren Chandler! I have been playing netball here in Calgary for the last 6 years and basically my whole life back in Australia. In my professional life I have a Bachelor of Commerce, with majors in Human Resource Management and Labour Relations. I have been working union side as a Labour Relations Officer for the last 8 years and am proud to be being able to support members in need. In the last year I was able to support Netball Alberta in the role of secretary, and then as interim VP and have been enjoying using my skills as a way to give back and support netball in the province I now call home.

  • Jennifer Hawker​​
    • As a certified coach and umpire in both England and Canada, I certainly live and breathe netball. Having achieved my England Level 2 Netball Coaching Certificate, England C Award and Canadian Level 2 Umpire Certifications, I have an extensive knowledge of the game, the rules and regulations, and the technical aspects of coaching and umpiring. 
      I have been a qualified coach for over 10 years and in addition to my coaching experience, I have a diploma in sports development. I have also worked in a variety of roles for numerous netball clubs in England and Netball Alberta. This has enabled me to gain a greater understanding of the technical aspects of netball and how to maximize performance.
      My experience in sports development and coaching has enabled me to develop strong leadership skills and to be a strong advocate for the advancement of coaching and umpiring in Alberta. I am keen to use my skills and knowledge to ensure that Netball Alberta provides the best possible opportunities for players, coaches, and officials.
      ​I believe that I have the perfect combination of qualifications, experience, and enthusiasm to make a positive contribution to the role of Technical Director of Netball Alberta.
Northern Alberta Member Representative

  • Claire Harrison
    • ​​Claire was born in the UK but came to Canada as a child.  She never played netball in England but her mum loved to play.  So, when a netball club started in St. Albert in the early ‘80s Claire pointed it out to her mum and suggested that her mum join.  The predictable reply was that her mum would if she did.  Having spent her teenage years avoiding all forms of exercise, Claire surprised everyone by agreeing.  Since her mum played goal keeper, Claire was put on the court as goal shooter.
      During her university years, Claire played with the St. Albert club as well as training with other Edmonton area clubs.  She played in many local tournaments, travelled to Regina in the middle of winter to do an exhibition game, and twice represented Alberta at the national level.
      After graduation and marriage she lost touch with Netball but happened upon a Facebook post a few years ago and joined the Edmonton club.  Despite being slightly older than the average player, she has been a regular player at weekly training sessions and at several tournaments  hosted in Calgary.  She was very proud to be given the award for the ladies team MVP at the spring tournament.
      She is seeking the position of liaison to ANA for the northern Alberta region.  She is looking forward to working with the leadership teams to support Netball in Edmonton and all of Alberta.  This is a great game with a place for everyone!
