International Netball Federation Aims To Grow, Play, and Inspire With World Netball Rebrand

Under a new name and logo, the International Netball Federation (INF) has today announced an official rebrand to World Netball alongside the launch of a strategic plan which will shape the future of the sport and drive positive impact around the world.
The governing body’s renaming reflects the significant growth in awareness and development of netball over recent years. The time is right to shine a light on the sport’s reputation for providing opportunities, creating communities, and inspiring netballers.
The rebrand signals the INF’s future-forward approach and is the springboard for unveiling World Netball’s strategic plan and vision for the sport. Under the name World Netball, the body will work with Member nations to deliver its vision to create a better world through netball. Designed around three core strategies and seven essential values, the strategic plan builds on Netball 2020, INF’s strategic plan launched in 2016, and reflects consultation with World Netball’s Members and Regions.
The strategy is ambitious, progressive, and agile and is focused on a mission to expand netball’s worldwide reach and impact, building on the sport’s unique female-focused foundations. World Netball will grow, play, and inspire at every level as well as engage and excite through collaboration and sharing.
The World Netball logo and its bold new design represent the colours of the five World Netball Regions – Africa, Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania – and symbolises the athletic forms that are visually unique to netball. The logo is part of a new family of logos representing World Netball’s territories and events, creating a core foundation for the brand, and signifying a repositioning of the sport.
World Netball President, Liz Nicholl, CBE, said: “We are delighted to be moving into this exciting next chapter as World Netball. Netball is a sport that creates choices, opportunities, connections, and communities for millions around the world. Now is the time to look forward. Delivering our strategy to grow, to play, and to inspire, we will achieve our ambition to create a better world through netball.
“Our rebrand signals our intent to create real impact in the world of netball, with a vision to create a sport open to all, allowing netballers to embrace the opportunities the sport brings as well as achieving their full potential.”
World Netball CEO, Clare Briegal, commented: “Our rebrand and new strategy marks an important time in the world of netball. November 12th, 2020 the AB Government announced stricter measures in order to combat the increase in cases of Covid-19. Please follow the link below to the table of affected areas and activities:

Community-specific mandatory measures

• Ban on indoor group fitness classes and team sport activities (Nov 13-27).
• Ban on group performance activities: singing, dancing and theatre (Nov 13-27).

​Mandatory measures

• Restaurants, bars, lounges and pubs must stop liquor sales by 10pm and close by 11pm - applies to Class A, B or C licences (Nov 13-27).
• 15-person limit on social and family gatherings - indoors and outdoors - where people are mixing and mingling.
• 50-person limit on indoor and outdoor wedding ceremonies and funeral services.

​Voluntary measures

• No social gatherings inside your home or outside of your community. Instead, socialize outdoors or in structured settings, like restaurants or other business that are subject to legal limits and take steps to prevent transmission.
• Limit of 3 cohorts: your core household, your school, and one other sport or social cohort. Young children who attend child care can be part of 4 cohorts.
• Wear a mask in all indoor work settings, except when alone in a workspace or an appropriate barrier is in place.
• Employers in office settings should implement measures to reduce the number of employees in the workplace at one time.
• Faith-based gatherings limited to 1/3 capacity at one time.

The organization will hold it's annual general meeting (AGM) from 12 noon to 12:45pm on 21 November 2020 in accordance with the Societies Act and our bylaws, for ANA members to review and plan for our financial health, appoint officers for the next period, and consider changes to our governance.

All Netball Alberta members* who have registered by 31st October 2020 will be eligible to vote and thereby participate in decision-making at our AGM.
This year our AGM will be run in strict adherence to Alberta’s COVID19 protocols. As an AGM is considered a ‘structured meeting’ not a ‘social gathering’, it will be conducted in-person at Southland Leisure Centre in an appropriately distanced and sanitized environment. 

Reports and financials will be available for review prior to the AGM date.

The agenda will be:
· Approval of AGM agenda
· Approval of minutes of 2019 AGM
· Revision of Alberta Netball Association ‘Objects’ (see below)
· Board appointments and resignations
· Approval of financial report, budget and audit arrangements
· Any other business
· Closure
This year we wish to make an amendment to our objects, to strengthen the mandate of the Association and align with the Societies Act. Please read the linked proposal for more details.
It has been a tough year but Netball Alberta stands strong and is planning for a safe return to play for all our members.

We would like to share some good news with you all!

Alberta Netball Association has secured court time at Southland Leisure Centre! The Centre is closed to the general public at this time,  however they are opening their doors to returning groups such as ANA. The booking itself is to be managed on a four week basis, so dependent on the success of the first four weeks, we will roll out an additional four week program in the run up to Christmas.

As you can imagine we can not operate a training program on an ad hoc basis, we have a 2.5hr window and we will be delivering two separate training groups of 8 players to 1 coach. This is a pilot program, and players would need to be able to commit to the four weeks, without exception.  At present two sessions have been set up, the first will run from 9.15 - 10.15, the second 10.30 - 11.30. Further instructions re arrival time, waiver and declaration of health etc. will be forwarded on completion of registration.

Alberta Netball Association has their own RETURN TO PLAY GUIDELINES_Final Draft_Oct 2020.pdf, please read the document, should you have any questions please feel free to email directly.  The pilot program will be governed by the Phase 2 stage of return to play, maximum of 8 players to 1 or 2 coaches for a 1 hour training session.  

It is essential that all players are registered as a Member of Alberta Netball Association for the 2020_21 Season, if you have not completed registration as a member your registration to the training program will not be considered complete. Parents are also welcome to register as members of ANA for the season, the registration fee is set at $5 until October 31st, 2020.

• Fee for the four week program is $40.00
• First session will start October 24th,
• limited number of open slots per session
•  Registration closes Thursday October 23rd at 23:59, as time is needed to issue further instructions to registered players and to Southland Leisure Centre.
